THE ORIGIN
Known as an enduring symbol of promise between two souls, the Claddagh ring’s origin is rooted in Ireland. The design emerged in the 17th century in the fishing village of Claddagh. The story begins with Richard Joyce, a fisherman captured by pirates, who later created the first ring for his lover upon his return.
From its first creation until its modern-day interpretation, the ring’s details remain faithful to the original design — two hands clasping a heart topped with a crown — with each element carrying its intended meaning:

How the ring is worn also carries meaning. Placed on the right hand with the heart facing outward, it signals openness to love. Turned inward, it signifies commitment. Worn on the left hand, it traditionally marks engagement or marriage.

We were inspired by the timelessness and meaning behind the Claddagh ring, as it resonates with our ethos of creating meaningful jewelry that lasts a lifetime. Our vision of designing not-your-typical couple rings led us to an alternative, contemporary reimagination, shaped by our brand DNA.
